A BALANCE OF NATURAL LUXURY
Private Client
Seocho-gu, Seoul

Project Details:
Designed as a long-term home, this approximately 2,740 sq ft residence was shaped around the clients’ lifestyle, personal preferences, and the everyday needs that come with staying in one place for years.
A previously undersized living room was expanded by incorporating an adjacent room, creating a generous space with two-sided views. Custom storage was integrated throughout the home to support daily life without compromising the overall calmness of the interior.
Natural materials—including solid wood, marble, and stone—became the foundation of the design, bringing together two distinct personal tastes within one cohesive home.

Project Overview

Natural materials, gallery-like calm.
The home was designed around the depth and character of natural materials, creating a refined residential environment with the presence of a private gallery.
A long visual axis from the entry to the living room allows art and objects to be experienced as part of the architecture, while the expanded living area opens toward two views of Umyeonsan Mountain. At the same time, generous storage and comfortable circulation were carefully planned for long-term everyday living.
Design Approach

Two distinct tastes, composed into one language.
The project began with two different preferences: one leaning toward calm, clean, and understated interiors, and the other drawn to darker tones, bold marble, and more expressive materials.
Warm wood and lighter finishes establish a soft overall base, while natural marble and stronger stone patterns add depth and visual weight. By balancing these contrasts, each space reflects both personalities without losing a sense of continuity.
Details

A home shaped by material and detail.
Solid wood, natural marble, stone, and fabric were layered throughout the residence to create a rich but restrained material palette.
At the entry, a long gallery-like sequence introduces the home through art and carefully framed views. In the living room, a custom bench inspired by stepping stones provides both storage and a sculptural element. The ceramic kitchen island, marble home bar, and wood-lined study each create their own distinct atmosphere, while the primary bedroom uses fabric and natural wood to bring a softer, more intimate character.
